Thanks to a lead gift from LC Industries, planning has begun for a state-of-the-art clinical expansion of Duke Eye Center.
The new clinical pavilion will create a prominent address on Erwin
Road and a new front door for Duke Eye Center -- part of a major capital
expansion that will transform Duke’s medical campus.
Potentially blinding eye diseases have become major U.S. health
problems, with as many as 5.5 million Americans projected to suffer
vision loss in the coming decade.
The new clinical pavilion will allow Duke to better serve our
fast-growing region by integrating the latest technologies in a
comfortable and convenient environment specifically designed to meet the
needs of our patients with impaired vision.
The new Eye Center clinical pavilion will provide a state-of-the-art
clinical and clinical research environment that will greatly enhance the
Duke patient experience. The expansion includes more patient seating,
facilities for shorter check-in and check-out times, and centralized
testing and photography areas meaning less travel across the clinic,
thus streamlining and enhancing compassionate care for our patients.
Together with the Albert Eye Research Institute and renovated space
in the Wadsworth Building, this stunning new clinical pavilion will
become the hub of an extensive Duke Eye Center clinical system,
incorporating new patient amenities and services with Duke’s expert
clinical eye specialists and world-class ophthalmology research.
We invite the partnership of Duke Eye Center patients, supporters, and friends in this historic endeavor.
