Eye Center faculty, residents and fellows celebrate the culmination of a year of research at the Annual Residents’ and Fellows’ Day in AERI auditorium in June. At the two-day scientific symposium, residents, fellows and Duke medical students present their research projects to Duke faculty and community clinicians.

Each year a distinguished guest ophthalmologist is invited to give the keynote lecture at the end of the second day. Past presenters have included Dimitri Azar, MD, Chair of ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Jorge Alvarado, MD, Professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco . Following the two-day program, the Eye Center honors the graduating residents and fellows at a celebration dinner at a location in the Raleigh/Durham area.
