The Morphology/Image Processing Module provides Core Grant participants with access to a variety of shared instruments for imaging and processing of specimens. This includes high-end confocal microscopes, a transmission electron microscope (TEM), multimodal microtiter (cell) plate reader and a laser capture microdissection (LCM) system for isolation of cellular material at the microscopic level. Support, service, and training in the use of these sophisticated hardware and software are provided by skilled technical staff. The Module also provides stocks of commonly used supplies such as some reagents and secondary antibodies for immunolocalization.

The Proteomics/Molecular Biology Module provides investigators with support and service in operation of commonly used equipment, access to tissue culture rooms, and stocks of commonly used supplies. A major component of this Module is the ocular proteomics facility which provides investigators a range of experimental capabilities, from protein identification in gel bands to analyzing post-translational modifications and performing the analyses of complex protein mixtures.

There is also an Animal Models Module at Duke.
