According to the World Health Organization, globally, over 80% of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. The Duke Eye Center is dedicated to decreasing the prevalence of visual impairment worldwide through education, research, and outreach activities.
Through our many international activities, we are able to bring together people with common goals, desires, and skills and carry out our international activities at the highest standards.We encourage and support all faculty, staff, and trainees to get involved in international activities.
Upcoming educational symposiums will take place in the South America and Asia. Members of the Duke Eye Center have been involved in outreach missions around the globe to places including: Cambodia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Romania, and the West Indies.
