Official Kickoff for the Duke Sports Vision Center

Friday, September 7, 2018

On Thursday September 6, 2019, we officially celebrated the Duke Sports Vision Center (DSVC) with a tailgate themed kickoff event. Duke Football and Baseball Head Coaches David Cutcliffe and Chris Pollard, as well as Assistant Duke Basketball coach Jon Scheyer joined us as special guests to commemorate the first multidisciplinary sports institute in the nation.

The DSVC incorporates the latest technologies and research to help optimize the visual and athletic performance of our patients and is a combined venture between Duke Eye Center and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. It is part of the James R. Urbaniak, MD, Sports Sciences Institute (DSSI), the biggest and most robust sports sciences institute in academic medicine. With top-notch facilities and technology, the backing of the celebrated DSSI, and a world-class team at the helm, the DSVC is unlike any other sports vision center in the world.

The DSVC serves the following individuals:

  • Patients seeking to enhance dynamic visual ability and sports performance through vision training
  • Patients who sustained a brain injury, such as a concussion and want to return to their baseline vision
  • Patients seeking vision correction
