Where are you from?
I was born in Central New Jersey, but when I was three years old, my dad joined the US foreign service and we moved to Harare, Zimbabwe. Before I was 18 years old, I had lived in 14 different cities in six different countries, mostly on the African continent. I consider all of these places home.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of medicine?
I spend a lot of time these days watching my seven month old baby boy grow, which is truly the most remarkable privilege. I also love to back sourdough bread, play pickle ball and board games with my husband, watch movies and shop at Costco.
What drew you to Duke ophthalmology?
I was attracted to Duke because of their remarkable global ophthalmology efforts, specifically in sub-Saharan Africa. I also truly felt like the residents were friends with one another, and I was excited to be back in the triangle after attending UNC for undergrad (go Heels!)
What are some of your personal/professional goals for this year?
As a PGY2, it is really exciting to get to focus on the eyes. It is also incredibly challenging! My goal this year is to eat the elephant one bite at a time, and to try and do that while taking care of each other as a class. I aspire to have a good belly laugh daily!
Anything else you'd like to share?
I am a product of a deeply loving village of people who have supported and championed me at every stage of my journey. My family, my incredible church community, friends, and mentors have been with me every step of the way and I am forever grateful for them.
