Cataracts

Duke eye surgeons perform thousands of cataract surgeries each year, and can often restore your vision to 20/20. We remove your cloudy lens using tiny incisions and sophisticated techniques, including highly precise lasers and ultrasound. We employ the latest lens designs to clear your vision. Depending on the lens used, you may no longer need glasses.

Corneal Disease

Duke corneal surgeons are experts in corneal transplantation to treat corneal disease including keratoconus and corneal Fuchs’ dystrophy and dry eye. We use the most sophisticated imaging technology to diagnose your condition, and offer ongoing medical management of corneal infection, corneal ulcers, dry eye and corneal scarring. If your condition has progressed to the point where you require a corneal transplant, we employ the latest surgical advances to repair your diseased corneas and improve your vision. Our goal is to return you to your normal daily routine as quickly as possible.

Laser Vision Correction

Duke refractive surgery specialists correct your vision to 20/20 or better using LASIK and other refractive procedures. Collectively, our surgeons have performed more than 20,000 procedures since the nationally ranked Duke Eye Center began offering refractive procedures nearly 20 years ago. We correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism — blurry vision due to a misshaped cornea. Our experience treating complex eye diseases allows us to maximize the safety of your refractive procedure. Our goal is to return you to 20/20 vision or better with minimal discomfort and maximum convenience.
