Where are you from?
I'm originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, but I've called North Carolina home for the last 12 years and have grown to love it here.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of medicine?
I love exploring new restaurants around Durham and its surrounding areas. I'm also a big fan of pickup basketball and tennis. At home, I have a growing board game collection and love hosting game nights or tackling escape rooms with friends. Full disclosure...my guilty pleasure is watching trash reality TV.

What drew you to Duke Ophthalmology?
During medial school at Duke, I was fortunate to experience firsthand the culture of the residency program and I admired the camaraderie among the residents. I was drawn to the program's strong commitment to community engagement and its balanced focus on training comprehensive ophthalmologists while fostering research, mentorship, and innovation. I was also drawn to the opportunities in global health, and area I'm passionate about. Lastly, as a Duke basketball fan, I couldn't pass up the chance to cheer from the stands for another four years.
What are some of your personal/professional goals for this year?
Professionally, I aim to find the right balance between thoroughness and efficiency in clinical care, while embracing the challenge of practicing ophthalmology with curiosity and joy. I'm also looking forward to building strong connections and lasting memories with my co-residents. I'm also working on expanding my cooking skills-I hope to be able to chop onions with the confidence of Chef Gusteau or Gordon Ramsay.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of this remarkable group of residents at Duke. I'm especially thankful for my wife, parents, sister, cousins, and friends who have been unwavering in their support along the way.
