Duke Eye Center is proud to announce that Edward G. Buckley, MD has been selected as the 2026 Outstanding Mentor/Educator Award recipient by the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). The award will be presented during the Opening Session of the 51st AAPOS Annual Meeting in Boston on March 19, 2026.
The Outstanding Mentor/Educator Award recognizes AAPOS members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to mentorship and make a meaningful impact on developing future pediatric ophthalmologists.
Dr. Buckley’s mentorship legacy is distinguished by the training of more than 80 clinical fellows and 13 research fellows, many of whom have gone on to leadership roles in pediatric ophthalmology. His commitment to fostering growth and shaping future generations has been a defining aspect of his career, complemented by his service as a past President of AAPOS and national leader in ophthalmic education.
