In honor of Dr. Robert Machemer, DUEC residents may submit a clinical or basic science research proposal from any sub-speciality of ophthalmology for consideration. This annual award will be given to one resident each academic year whose research proposal demonstrates intellectual curiosity and scientific originality.
The proposal must be no longer than 3 pages and must include 4 sections: Purpose, Background, Methods/Research Design, Clinical Relevance. The project must be completed in a 1 yr period & presented at Residents/Fellows Day 2016.
The award includes a $500 stipend.
Please submit proposals in writing and electronically to Sharon Fekrat,MD sharon.fekrat@dm.duke.edu by January 1, 2016 for review by the Robert Machemer Research Award Selection Committee. If you are working on a project for Residents and Fellows Day, then you have a proposal to submit.
All reviews by the Selection Committee will be masked. Previous recipients cannot submit another proposal.
