The annual meeting for the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) will be held May 5-9 in Seattle, Washington. There will be over 75 presentations by Duke faculty and trainees.
Daniel Saban, PhD will be honored with the 2024 Cogan Award during the meeting. This prestigious award recognizes young researchers that have made significant contributions to research in ophthalmology or visual science, and that show substantial promise for future contributions in this field. Saban is an associate professor in the department of ophthalmology and integrative immunobiology and a faculty network member of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences. He is also the Scientific Director of the Foster Center of Ocular Immunology at Duke Eye Center.
ARVO will also present a special tribute in memory of Jospeh Izatt, PhD, with remarks by Cynthia Toth, MD. Long time collaborators, together they pioneered OCT technology to bring innovative imaging to the bedside. He was the Michael J. Fitzpatrick Professor of Engineering, and chair of Duke’s Department of Biomedical Engineering.
