Duke at ASRS 2023

The annual meeting of the American Society of Retinal Specialists (ASRS) was held July 28 – August 1, 2023 in Seattle, Washington.  

Several Duke Faculty members and trainees participated by leading lectures, moderating sessions, and giving poster presentations.

Residents, PGY4 Yuxi Zheng, MD and PGY4 Meghana Konda, MD received the Women in Retina Grant to attend the meeting. 

Two Duke Eye Center Alumni were honored with ASRS awards to recognize excellence and innovation in the field of retina. 

  • Prithvi Mruthyunjaya, MD, MHS, FASRS, received the 2023 Crystal Apple Award for excellence in teaching and mentorship (Duke Retina Specialist Sharon Fekrat, MD, FASRS previously received this award in 2022).
  • Eugene de Juan Jr, MD, FASRS received the Retina Research Foundation’s Gertrude D. Pyron Award. Both Mruthyunjaya and De Juan completed their fellowships at Duke and also served as faculty members.
