Duke Eye Center Fellows Named 2026-2027 Heed Fellows

Two Duke Eye Center fellows have been selected as 2026-2027 Heed Fellows, a prestigious honor awarded by the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation to support the next generation of leaders in academic ophthalmology.

The Duke recipients are:

  • Gregory McElroy, MD, PhD, Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellow
  • Anna Toth, MD, PhD, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellow

The Heed Fellowship supports promising ophthalmologists pursuing careers in patient care, education, and research. Established in 1946, the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation advances ophthalmic science through fellowship support for future clinician-scientists and academic leaders.

McElroy and Toth join a distinguished community of Heed Fellows whose work has advanced patient care, education, and research in ophthalmology. Duke Eye Center is proud to recognize them on this achievement and looks forward to their continued contributions to the field.
