Duke Ophthalmology Ranks Among Nation’s Top Departments in 2025 NIH Funding

Duke University School of Medicine received more than $514 million in NIH research funding in 2025, placing 9th nationally, according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. Duke Ophthalmology was among the 11 Duke departments to place in the national top 10, earning recognition as one of the leading programs in its field and reflecting the department’s growing impact in vision science and translational research.
