Four Duke Eye Center fellows have been awarded Heed Fellowships for 2018. The Heed Ophthalmic Foundation supports post-graduate studies in ophthalmology by granting awards to a limited number of clinical fellows to assist in their academic pursuits. Of the 24 competitive awards given this year throughout the country, four were given to Duke fellows.
The Heed Ophthalmic Foundation has appointed more than 1,100 Heed Fellows and provided over $11 million dollars in support of their postgraduate training. Over the past 70 years, the type and length of fellowship training has varied. The Foundation currently designates the Heed Fellowship as an unrestricted Merit Award with a value of $10,000.00
