Clinical Research is patient-oriented research that is conducted with human participant volunteers. Clinical research involves consent and approval prior to research activities.

There are more than 40 clinical research faculty at Duke Ophthalmology.  The patients are the core of clinical research, who willingly accommodate and participate in trials that are led by our faculty. Patients make our research meaningful, and ensure that Duke physician scientists work toward the best new and innovative treatments for the most challenging eye conditions.
