Leaders in Pediatric Retina Unite for APR 2025

The 5th biennial Advances in Pediatric Retina (APR) meeting has grown from a modest gathering of just over 50 attendees to nearly 300 participants in 2025, including more than 150 international guests. This year’s event brought together leading voices in pediatric retina from across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa, making it one of the most globally diverse and impactful meetings in the field.

Course director Lejla Vajzovic, MD, FASRS and course co-directors Cynthia Toth, MD and Mary Elizabeth Hartnett, MD led a dynamic program focused on the latest advances in diagnosis and management of pediatric retinal diseases. The meeting featured keynote presentations from Audina M. Berrocal, MD, Maria B. Grant, MD, and Subhadra Jalali, MD, each sharing insights from decades of pioneering work.

Interactive panel discussions sparked debate on treatment strategies and surgical approaches, while case presentations showcased preoperative imaging, intraoperative videos, and expert guidance on managing complications and challenges.

The continued growth and global reach of APR reflect the commitment of its organizers and faculty to advancing pediatric retina care through education, collaboration, and innovation.
