Suzanne Michalak, MD (PGY4) has been selected for the 2021 Robert Machemer Resident Research Award for her project Systemic Factors Associated with a Thinner Choroid in Preterm Infants. Michalak will present her work at the annual Duke Ophthalmology Scientific Symposium on June 4, 2021. Her mentors for this project were Cynthia Toth, MD and Lejla Vajzovic, MD.
The Machemer Resident Research Award was established in honor of Duke Ophthalmology's former Chair Robert Machemer, MD. It is given to one resident each academic year whose research proposal demonstrates intellectual curiosity and scientific originality.
