Duke at AGS 2026

Duke Eye Center faculty, trainees, and researchers gathered with glaucoma specialists from across the country at the 2026 American Glaucoma Society (AGS) Annual Meeting, held February 19–22 in Rancho Mirage, CA. The meeting brought together leaders in glaucoma research, education, and clinical innovation to share new findings and advance the field.

Duke was once again strongly represented across symposium sessions, paper discussions, posters, and research forums.

A highlight of this year’s meeting was the recognition of Kelly W. Muir, MD, who received the Outstanding Mentor Award for her exceptional leadership in glaucoma education and mentorship. Duke ophthalmology resident Agnes Owete, MD, was also honored with the AGS INSPIRE Award, a program designed to support early‑career clinician‑scientists by fostering mentorship, networking, and research development.

Duke faculty also contribute to organizational leadership within AGS. Leon W. Herndon Jr., MD, and Dr. Muir both serve on the AGS Board of Directors, as Past President and as the representative for Education and Communication, respectively. Both were additionally honored as Founder Society members during the meeting.

The Duke team appreciated the opportunity to connect with colleagues, share new work, and contribute to the collective progress being made in glaucoma care.
