Kelly Muir, MD, MHS Promoted to Professor with Tenure

Duke Eye Center is pleased to announce that Kelly Muir, MD, MHS has been promoted to Professor with Tenure, Tenure Track, effective December 1, 2025.

Muir completed her medical school, ophthalmology residency, and glaucoma fellowship at Duke, and has been a valued member of the faculty since 2007. She has served as Fellowship Director for the Department of Ophthalmology since 2015, playing a central role in training and mentoring residents and fellows. In the summer of 2026, she will step down from this role to focus on her new position as Chief of the Glaucoma Division.

Beyond her leadership responsibilities, Muir has advanced care for glaucoma patients through her research on patient education, communication, and innovative approaches to treatment delivery. Her work has received support from the American Glaucoma Society, the National Eye Institute, and the Veterans Health Administration.
