Duke Eye Center faculty participated in the 2026 Hawaiian Eye & Retina meeting, held January 17–23 in Oahu, Hawaii, contributing expertise to one of the field’s most influential annual gatherings. Lejla Vajzovic, MD, FASRS, served as Retina Program Planner, helping guide the scientific direction of the meeting. Additional Duke presenters included Sharon Fekrat, MD, FACS, FASRS; Durga Borkar, MD, MMCi; and Glenn Jaffe, MD, who together contributed to more than 20 sessions throughout the week. Dr. Fekrat was also honored with the Speaker of the Day award on Friday for her presentation, “Retina’s Greatest Hits: 2025 Case Showcase and Discussion.”
Each year, Hawaiian Eye & Retina brings ophthalmologists together to explore emerging technologies and breakthrough ideas shaping the future of eye care. The meeting opens with two days of combined sessions focused on subspecialty updates and adapting to change, followed by four tailored programs offering cutting‑edge clinical education and practical insights from more than 200 faculty.
Duke’s strong involvement reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to advancing ophthalmic education and clinical excellence.
