Duke Eye Center Hosts 2026 Glaucoma Symposium and Fellows Course

Duke Eye Center welcomed glaucoma specialists, trainees, and eye care professionals from across the country for the 2026 Duke Glaucoma Fellows Course and Glaucoma Symposium, held October 23-24 at Duke Eye Center.

The two-day program featured expert presentations, panel discussions, research updates, and hands-on surgical training focused on the latest advances in glaucoma care. The Fellows Course provided glaucoma fellows with hands-on wet lab experience and expert-led education, while the Symposium brought together faculty, fellows, residents, and guest speakers to discuss clinical innovation, emerging research, surgical techniques, and patient care.

The symposium featured keynote presentations from Anurag Shrivastava, MD, who discussed the future of ophthalmology education, and Paula Anne Newman-Casey, MD, MS, who shared insights on engaging patients in glaucoma treatment. Additional presentations and panel discussions examined emerging research, anti-VEGF therapy and glaucoma, and real-world clinical decision-making.

Directed by Jullia Rosdahl, MD, PhD, the symposium reflected Duke Eye Center's ongoing commitment to advancing glaucoma care through education, research, and collaboration. The program also highlighted presentations and research from Duke glaucoma fellows and residents, providing opportunities for trainees to share their work with faculty and peers.
