Brodie Receives American Academy of Ophthalmology Artemis Award

Congratulations to Frank Brodie, MD on receiving the 2022 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Artemis Award!  The AAO Artemis Award recognizes ophthalmologists whose work has demonstrated innovation in delivering quality eye care to underserved populations.   Dr. Brodie, a recent graduate of the Duke Ophthalmology Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship Program, was recognized for the non-profit that he co-founded, the Loving Eyes Foundation.

The Loving Eyes foundation originally began as a residency project in 2017.  Recognizing the disparity in access to eye care for children with craniofacial abnormalities, Dr. Brodie's non-profit is dedicated to creating properly-fitting glasses using cutting-edge 3D-printing technology.  Thus far, Dr. Brodie has raised about $400,000 and has helped over 50 families receive tailor-made eyewear.  He now works with ophthalmologists and institutions across the country, serving patients and families in need.

Dr. Brodie continues to use his expertise to serve his community by caring for patients and training residents at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
