Challa Honored with the Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education

We are proud to announce that Pratap Challa, MD, professor of ophthalmology and Duke Ophthalmology residency director has been honored with the Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education. This distinguished award was established through the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) and private funds, and is given to a program director dedicated to the principles and significance of residency education.

He will be presented with this award during the AAO annual meeting, held October 18-21, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. Challa will also be recognized at the AUPO annual meeting, held January 29-February 1, 2024 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

He has served as Program Director for the Duke Ophthalmology residency program since 2001 and has trained approximately 150 ophthalmology residents.
