The American Glaucoma Society (AGS) will hold their annual meeting February 29 - March 3, 2024 in Huntington Beach, California. The meeting will showcase the highest-caliber papers, posters, and symposia, including presentations by our own Duke Eye Center glaucoma experts.
Duke Faculty presenters will include Sanjay Asrani, MD, Leon Herndon, MD, Jullia Rosdahl, MD, PhD, and Joanne Wen, MD. Glaucoma fellow Andrew Gross, MD and medical student Jay Rathinavelu will also present their research during the meeting.
Leon Herndon, MD currently serves as the President of AGS and leads the society's efforts to support glaucoma research and education and to promote excellence in the care of patients with glaucoma. Kelly Muir, MD also serves on the board of directors as the Education and Communication Chair.
Sharon Freedman, MD will be honored with the prestigious Outstanding Educator Award during the meeting. This award recognizes her consistent and extraordinary commitment to advancing glaucoma education to residents, fellows, and colleagues.
Two Duke Eye Center faculty will also be honored with research fellowship awards during the meeting. Katy Liu, MD, PhD will receive the AGS Young Physician-Scientist Grant and Joanne Wen, MD will receive the Mid-Career Physician-Scientist Award. These grants will support their development as investigators in the field of glaucoma research and provide an additional source of research funding.
