Duke at ASCRS 2021

Duke Ophthalmology faculty and trainees presented their latest research in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery during the 2021 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) annual meeting July 23-27, 2021 held in person in Las Vegas. 

We are proud of Terry Kim, MD, professor of ophthalmology and chief of cornea and refractive surgery for serving as the immediate past president of ASCRS.

Leon W. Herndon, MD, professor of ophthalmology and glaucoma division chief is the ASCRS Glaucoma Committee Chair and served as moderator for several sessions in addition to his presentations.

Cornea Fellow Brent Kramer, MD won Best Paper for the "Astigmatism Management and Toric IOL Alignment" Session.

Former Duke cornea fellow Ashiyana Nariani, MD, MPH received the Young Eye Surgeon International Service Grant 2021. 

The ASCRS annual meeting is focused on therapeutic, surgical, and administrative topics directly relevant to ASCRS and ASOA members, offers symposia, lectures, workshops, sessions, courses, and skills transfer labs to help anterior segment surgeons, practice managers and administrators, technicians and nurses maintain and refine their clinical and administrative skills.
