Duke to Host Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation Symposium

Duke Eye Center will host the annual symposium of the Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation (BEBRF) on November 2, 2024. The goal of the BEBRF is "to undertake, promote, develop and carry on the search for the cause, cure, and treatment of benign essential blepharospasm and other related disorders and infirmities of the facial musculature.” During the annual symposium, patients will have the opportunity to hear from experts on blepharospasm, Meige, and other related disorders, as well as connect with other patients and caregivers.

Professor of Ophthalmology and Oculofacial Surgery Division Chief Julie Woodward, MD will serve as the program director and will present during the symposium. Several other Duke Eye Faculty will also present, including James Pitzer Gills, III, M.D. and Joy Gills Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology and Department Chair Edward Buckley, MD, Amy Fowler, MD, Amol Sura, MD, Troy Tagg, MD, and Christopher Dermarkarian, MD
