Gupta Receives FFB Clinical Research Fellowship Award

Congratulations to Duke Ophthalmology PGY4 resident Priya Gupta, MD on receiving  a 65,000 dollar Clinical Research Fellowship Award through the Foundation Fighting Blindness foundation (FFB) to fund her research during the upcoming academic year.

The Diana Davis Spencer Clinical Research Fellowship Award (CRFA)  program provides funding for medical doctors in clinical fellowships examining orphan inherited retinal degenerations. The goal is to increase the number of clinician-scientists with expertise and a commitment to provided clinical care to patients with inherited retinal disease. This program prepares burgeoning doctors for careers in academic medicine, provides critical training in an environment that fosters research to develop preventions, treatments, and cures for retinal degenerations. 

Dr. Gupta will be completing an Inherited Retinal Dystrophy fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear. Her project is titled “Determination of Genetic Causality in Elusive Unsolved IRD Cases."
