The Council of Vision Editors Fellowship program, led by Michael Chiang, MD, Director of the National Eye Institute, and editors from seven leading journals in ophthalmology, optometry, and vision science, has been established to provide structured, mentored training in review and editorial practices.
Katy Liu, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, is one of six inaugural fellows selected through a competitive match process. She will participate in a two-year program, during which she will be paired with two journals for one year each, receiving mentorship from experienced editorial board members.
Peer-reviewed literature forms the foundation of evidence-based clinical practice, with its quality depending on the expertise of the reviewers and editors who assess manuscripts. However, formal training in the peer-review process is rare among ophthalmologists.
