We are honored to announce that Eleonora Lad, MD, PhD received the VA Clinical Science Research and Development I01 Merit Award for her research titled “Role of Macrophages in Age-Related Macular Degeneration.”
This research has the goal to develop biomarkers of disease progression and targets for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a common and debilitating aging disease currently without cures. This is groundbreaking work that will significantly advance our understanding of inflammatory cells termed macrophages and related biomarkers in AMD and has the potential to change the standard of care for millions of patients affected.
