Brooks McCuen, MD, assistant vice chair ophthalmology and service chief of Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery Service, has been named recipient of the Retina Research Foundations Gertrude D. Pyron Award. He will receive the award and will deliver the Pyron Lecture at the American Society of Retina Specialists Meeting in Cannes, France, in September 2006.
The Pyron Award was created by the Retina Research Foundation of Houston to recognize outstanding vision scientists whose work contributes to knowledge about vitreoretinal disease. McCuen will receive a $5,000 personal honorarium and a $15,000 research award. The award is endowed by an estate gift from Gertrude D. Pyron of San Antonio.
