Duke Eye Center is the proud support of the 29th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Banquet hosted by the Duke University Chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) on January 22nd, 2022 Join us for several events in the upcoming week to help us celebrate the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all of those who fought for equality.
Community Service Event- January 14
Duke’s SNMA and Durham’s Triangle Empowerment Center (TEC) will partner to serve roughly 200 hot meals and conduct 40-50 rapid COVID antigen tests and HIV screenings at Urban Ministries at Durham.
2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration- January 16
Join members of the Duke and Durham community at Duke Chapel as we honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, a professor of African American Studies at Princeton University who is among this year's MacArthur 'genius grant' winners, will deliver the keynote address.
