Keke Liu, MD and Esteban Peralta, MD were honored with the 2025 Resident ASCRS Excellence Award, by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. This award recognizes ophthalmology residents exhibiting exemplary performance and provides a travel grant, four nights accommodation, and complimentary registration to the 2025 ASCRS meeting, along with invitations to select leadership and social events. 

Sejal Patel, an undergraduate at Duke University and member of iMIND, received the Duke/UNC Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) Associate Research Education Component (REC) Scholar Award. Sharon Fekrat MD FACS FASRS serves as her mentor.

We are thrilled to introduce Elizabeth Wanja Mathenge, MD, MSc, our new Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon and Ophthalmologist! Dr. Mathenge specializes in treating patients with drooping eyelids, under-eye bags, and various eyelid concerns, including the removal of lumps, bumps, and cancerous lesions around the eyes. Her expertise also extends to reconstructive procedures and addressing issues with the eye’s tear drainage system.
