Duke University’s Office of Graduate Medical Education is happy to announce this year's First Look event focused on our diverse and inclusive GME community. This virtual event is open to all residency applicants, and is an opportunity to hear directly from program directors, faculty, and residents about training opportunities at Duke and life in Durham, NC.

We are proud to have 22 Duke led presentations at the 2024 Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) Summer Symposium in Carlsbad, California held August 22-25. 

Vice Chair for Clinical Research and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology Eleonora Lad, MD, PhD was featured in a recent Healio Video Perspective from the 2024 ASRS meeting. 

We are thrilled to announce that Kevin Jackson, MD has joined the Duke Eye Center Cornea Division. Dr. Jackson completed his ophthalmology residency training and a cornea fellowship at Duke and it is a honor to welcome him back as a faculty member.

Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Professor of Ophthalmology Sharon Fekrat, MD, FACS, FASRS will be a guest speaker at the 2024 State of the Science Summit in Ophthalmology on August 21 at 7:00 PM. This virtual event offers an opportunity to hear from Fekrat and other experts in the profession as they discuss real-world evidence on the efficacy and durability of novel therapies for nAMD, DME, and RVO.

Sharon Fekrat, MD, FASCS, FACS will speak at the HCPLive State of the Science Webinar on August 21, 2024. The topic of this webinar is "Real-world Evidence on the Efficacy and Durability of Novel Therapies for nAMD, DME, and RVO". 

Durga Borkar, MD, MMCi published an editorial piece in the American Academy of Ophthalmology Journal on "Leveraging Real-World Evidence to Enhance Clinical Trials."
